The amount of energy and money that is needlessly wasted in the UK on a daily basis is quite simply, staggering. The UK is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, and yet we’re still using outdated technology in the majority of our homes.

There are over 633 million light bulbs in use in the UK today, and over 506 million of these are incandescent bulbs.
By simply changing our light bulbs to energy efficient ones, we can save over 5 million tonnes of CO2 being produced every single year. It also means that we will be saving just under 12 terawatts of energy annually, which is the equivalent to a single years’ worth of electricity produced by 2 power stations.

It’s time to retire the Incandescent Light Bulb once and for all, and replace them with energy efficient alternatives such as CFLs and LED bulbs!

The Infographic below shows how much energy could be saved all over the globe, if only we were to switch to more energy efficient light bulbs. A substantial change like this is a great way to start combatting the world’s climate crisis.
